Costumed Chipotle Customers Get $3 Burritos on Halloween

The annual Chipotle Halloween “boorito” fundraiser benefits the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation

We’re glad that Adam Richman likes his classic Brooklyn slice on a piece of waxed paper like the rest of us.

Halloween is inching ever closer, so remember that while you’re out with the little monsters, or covered head to toe in silly string, head over to Chipotle for the annual “boorito” fundraiser. Every customer dressed in costume that comes in to Chipotle on Halloween between 5 p.m. and closing will receive $3 burritos, bowls, salads, tacos, or kids meals. Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation, a non-profit organization working toward a sustainable food future.

“Our customers have helped raise $3 million for the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation through Boorito over the last three years, simply by coming to our restaurants in costume,” said Mark Crumpacker, chief marketing and development officer at Chipotle. “We are changing the way people think about and eat fast food, and the Cultivate Foundation is an ally in that effort, providing money to organizations that are committed to creating a sustainable, healthful and equitable food future.”

Hungry costumed customers can also enter their Halloween digs into the Chipotle costume contest using the hashtag #ChipotleBooritoContest. Three grand prize winners will each get $2,500.

Since this Halloween falls on a Saturday, that means there will be an epic Halloweekend. There will be the pre-Halloween on Thursday and Friday, so honestly by the time you get to the real Halloween on Saturday, you’ll need some fuel to make it through this weekend.

Luckily, Booritos from Chipotle are back. Chipotle is offering $3 burritos (or bowls, tacos, or salads) on Halloween to anyone who comes in dressed up in their Halloween finest, but with a twist this year.

This year, Chipotle is promoting their no additive initiative. Chipotle was one of the first restaurants to take a no additive initiative, which is basically a pledge to only use non-GMO ingredients in their products. This means Chipotle pledges to serve food using only the best ingredients, food that hasn’t been altered or genetically modified in a way that doesn’t occur naturally.

They are trying to break the stereotype that food can’t be fast, good, and cheap without adding crazy additives (like these) that we can’t even pronounce, as demonstrated in their spooky commercial.

In order to highlight their pledge to not use additives in their ingredients, Chipotle is encouraging customers to “add” something extra to their costumes in order to get the discount. In previous years, you could show up in any costume, from Katy Perry to the whole crew from OITNB and get your discounted burrito, but not anymore.

What does this mean for your costume this year? You could hit up your nearest Chipotle as the pizza rat or a classic white sheet ghost, and then add a sword, a pair of wings, or maybe even a giant spoon as your something extra for your costume to claim your $3 Chipotle. Just don’t show up looking normal, because that’s so last year.

Head on over after 5 pm to get your cheap fuel for the night, while supporting the healthy fast food movement and local farmers this Halloween for a win-win-win.

The proceeds, up to $1 million, will also go to the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation, which benefits small farms and promotes sustainable, fresh produce.
